Allianz Business to Arts Award Commission

I am currently working on completing a commission from Dublin Airport Authority to create 7 awards for their annual Allianz Business to Arts Awards Ceremony in September.  The first piece was completed last month in Stourbridge after much experimentation with the technique and colour possibilities of Venetian cane work.  The resulting piece is 'Striped Bulb', an exploration of form and pattern.  The shape has been developed to compliment the lines, these rounded forms of different proportions cause a subtle distortion to the lines.

There are 2 different types of cane per piece to give variation in colour and thickness of line.  One has a purple and clear outer, the other has a white core and green outer.  The thickness of these lines and intensity of colour vary due to the contours of the piece, creating a subtle and soft effect.
